I am so excited to finally share the most special part of my 2019! Meet Shannel – the beautiful little girl my Grandfather endearingly calls my “God-Child”. Shannel is 3-years old, loves to play and loves her big sister Vanessa! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
During our time together, Shannel gripped my hand proudly and guided me to her tiny home positioned deeply within the second-largest slum in the world. We arrived and entered the 8 x 8 tin structure (approx.) that houses 6 family members, make-shift beds (that doubled as seating), their kitchen; personal belongings, etc. – all of which was situated in that tiny space, under a leaky roof. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
They were warm, welcoming and very hospitable as they generously offered what little they had. As I sat in their home, I marveled at their creativity, resourcefulness and literal genius in how they maximized the limited space soaked by the torrential rains that had been falling in Kenya for days. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Following a Christ-centered model and a holistic approach that is effective, @Compassion International would never separate Shannel from her family but instead empowers her entire family through their generosity toward her. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I give $38 a month with confidence knowing 80% of all proceeds go directly to Shannel’s care. My small monthly contribution goes directly to her education, medical care, nourishing food, mentorship and just as important, the Good News – the hope-giving, life-saving message of Jesus Christ which will remain with her for the rest of her life (Proverbs 22:6).
