Coronavirus Chronicles: Let’s Talk About Your House!
Unless you literally live under a rock, you are an active participant in the governmentally mandated time of social distancing and self-isolation occurring during the Coronavirus crisis.
God has allowed everything to be halted during all of this and life as we have known it has been interrupted. Restaurants, schools, work for some of you and even travel plans have been canceled. Every race, every gender, every socioeconomic class of individuals and simply put, everyone no matter where you are in the world, has been impacted in some way by what has become an epidemic of global proportions.
I have been “isolated” with my Mother and 78-year-old Grandfather who both have never experienced anything remotely similar to Coronavirus before and based on what I too am witnessing, this “outbreak” is not the result of mere coincidence and simple happenstance. It seems like a perfect way to get the citizens of the globe to wake-up, pay attention and address several things many of us have neglected for years. The Coronavirus pandemic is profound in so many ways and the lessons we can learn in the midst of it are many. Below I have shared what I believe the Lord is saying to me personally which I felt compelled to share with those who will read this and take the messaging into consideration:
I heard the Lord say 5 words that I choose to take seriously … “Get your House in Order!”
Using those 5 words, He began to break down the 5 areas He wants me to focus on. While I was pondering each thought, I felt the need to share the message with those of you who would listen so here we go… (Spoiler Alert – #5 is the most important!)…
1. Get your House/Get Your Home in order:
Whether that means spring cleaning, finally organizing that junk drawer or starting a passion project that will ultimately benefit your home – use this time to clean your house and build your house; literally. Re-start your New Year’s goals; start writing that book or begin a realistic exercise regiment, etc., – whatever you choose to work on, be sure to maximize your time. Pause Netflix (Pause not Stop! ????) and use this time to do the things you have “been meaning to get to”. Create order in your home so it can be a peaceful, productive and prosperous place you can enjoy now and after Coronavirus is long gone.
2. Get your House / Get Your Family in order:
I do not have a husband or children yet, but God actually gave me this instruction quite a few months ago (which is why I am currently spending so much time in the Washington, D.C. area).
We can not have successful careers and amazing friendships if we have failed to properly prioritize our families as well. Whether its a phone call or even a letter, breaking the silence between you and that relative you haven’t talked to in a while or making the most of the time you are forced to spend together with your family during the crisis, this situation has given many of us the time we have needed to have some overdue discussions, light movie or game nights or simply time to reflect on what and who really is important at the end of the day.
3. Get your House / Get your Mind in Order (The home for your thoughts):
Simply put, what you feed, you fuel. If you feed worry and anxiety, you fuel fear and anxious thoughts. Do not stress out over what you can not control. Use wisdom and sound judgment when processing the vast amount of information becoming available about Coronavirus but DO NOT let fear, negativity, and feelings of gloom and doom run rampant in your mind. Take authority over your thoughts and make your mind listen to you – not the other way around. Speak life over yourself, your finances, your home, and this world! No matter how it looks right now, we will come through this victoriously!
4. Get your House / Get your Temple / your Body in Order:
Whew! This is a tough one for some of us! Personally, I am not the most active individual (although I am doing better) but I am not going to have this virus cause me to voluntarily put additional toxins and poisons in my body.
I encourage you to nap generously, let loose and eat your favorite snacks but also be mindful about what you allow to enter into your temple. If it is simply becoming more disciplined with your vitamin intake or being creative when it comes to finding better ways to be more active indoors, I am no health and fitness expert, but I do not want to not have Coronavirus or any other ailments while going through this process or when we come out of it. Let’s make good decisions now so we don’t have to pay for the bad ones later.
5. GET YOUR HOUSE / GET YOUR SOUL IN ORDER:
One thing I love about my online community is the cultural and regional diversity. There are a broad range of views and beliefs represented which is amazing. I am grateful for how God has entrusted me with this platform and I truly appreciate the opportunities it offers for us to grow together and learn from one another.
I am however going to challenge you to ask yourself, regardless of your viewpoint, “would you be willing to die for what you believe?”
Do you believe what you believe based on culture? Upbringing? Family? Comfort? Convenience?
Many of you know I am absolutely unapologetic about what I personally believe. I believe there is one God and that Jesus Christ died for my sins many years ago and yes, He defeated death and rose from the dead. I believe He not only died for me but He also died for the sins of the entire world. I believe Coronavirus has biblical relevance and life as we have known it is changing just as the Holy Bible indicated it would in order to provide historical markers for the last days and Jesus’s imminent return. I believe there is a heaven and I also believe there is a hell. I would die for what I believe – again, would you?
Whatever you choose to believe, be sure you’re willing to stand by it unwaveringly. Assess whether family has shaped your faith or perhaps you’ve chosen a path based on the way you think it should be. I believe what we stand on when money and careers and even family dynamics fade away is more important than life itself so, if you’re not sure, have questions or you just are curious, please let me know (I am a safe place) in the comments or feel free to send me a DM as I would be happy to share with you why I made a decision years ago to live for Christ and why time and time again, I would choose Him all over again. He has been proven through my life that His existence and love is real and I can not imagine what my life would have been without Him.
If you do not feel comfortable reaching out but you know you would like to live your life for Christ, please repeat these words:
Father I come to you in the name of your son Jesus Christ
I believe that he died on the cross for my sins and I believe you were raised from the dead on the 3rd day
Forgive me of my sins and make me a new person in Christ
Jesus, today I make you my Lord and Savior
In Jesus’ name I pray
Amen
That really is it! the Bible says, that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. – Romans 10:9
I sum everything up with this – It is so important that as the virus is being removed in the world, we use this time to intentionally work to remove the viruses that we have allowed to stay dormant in our homes, families, mind, body and souls.
I leave you with a few scriptures I have been resting on as we are all quarantined separately yet together.
Joshua 1:9
Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
2 Timothy1:7
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
2 Chronicles 7:13-16
If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Now mine eyes shall be open, and my ears will attend unto the prayer that is made in this place.
For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there forever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.
Please let me know what the Lord or simply, life has been saying to you during this time.
….As I always say…I love you, I am praying for you and we are in this thing called life together! <3
